MacKenzie wins again
American Clark MacKenzie, a former winner, lifted the Bermuda Senior Championship yesterday, winning by two shots from local player Quinton Sherlock.
Despite a disappointing score of 10-over-par 80 in the third and final round of the gross championship, MacKenzie prevailed with a total of 225 as the 54-hole tournament concluded at Riddell's Bay.
Sherlock was the runner-up on 227 and Brendan (Bees) Ingham placed third on 228 in the tight race for honours.
Valerie Nearon was the ladies' champion, carding 170 in the 36-hole event to 183 by second-placed Veronica Hines. Dolly Winwick was third on 182.
Meanwhile, William DeSilva Sr was the men's net champion with 207 and Roger Harvey the runner-up with 211. Shirley Brown and Susan Vallis were the ladies' net champion and runner-up with scores of 158 and 159 respectively.
