Police cost Melvin Simmons, 31, of Marsh Folly Road, $1,850.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant told the court that Police attempted to stop Simmons as he rode along Court Street on September 18, last year. But he continued riding and ran a red light.

The chase continued along Parsons Road where Simmons lost control of his bike.

When Simmons' bike was taken to the Police garage to be checked for stolen parts a plastic bag of plant material was found under the seat.

The plant material was later found to be 17 grams of cannabis. Simmons admitted having the drug for his personal use.

Acting Magistrate the Wor. Mr. Kim White fined Simmons $1,700 for possessing cannabis, $50 for running a stop sign, and $100 for failing to stop for Police.

John Robson, of Middle Road, pleaded guilty to the offence.

Prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said Police saw Robson cursing at a group of people outside a nightclub shortly after 3.30 a.m. on July 22.

He was warned by Police to stop and was arrested when he failed to do so, Sgt.

Osborne said.

Robson told the court he had been punched in his head after an argument inside the club. He apologised for wasting the court's time.

DRUG-ACCUSED RELEASED ON BAIL CTS Drug-accused released on bail A Jamaican who allegedly imported $20,000 worth of cannabis was yesterday released on $10,000 bail with a like surety, after he requested a Supreme Court trial.

Lloyd Clacken, who lives on Spanish Point Road in Pembroke, was not required to enter a plea to charges of possessing 422 grams of cannabis with intent to supply.

Lawyer Ms Victoria Pearman told the court that Clacken was scheduled to marry a Bermudian in September.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis granted Clacken bail and ordered him to surrender his travel documents. Clacken must also report to Hamilton Police station every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

He will return to court for mention on August 10.
