Island's first amusement park.

The proposed facility was to house fun castles, bumper cars, train and ferris wheel rides, a 60-kart track, fuelling area and seating areas on 32,452 square feet of land on Cricket Lane in Sandys Parish.

William Trott, the applicant for the venture, offered to reduce the scale and business hours of the operation to address safety concerns.

But Planning officials noted the project was sited in a zone predominantly designated as residential.

And they ruled it created an "unacceptable impact on the surrounding residential neighbourhood''.

Officials also recommended that a "more remote location would be better for its use''.

In other Planning news, Brewing Services Ltd. received planning permission for interior renovations and the installation of a brew pub in the Number Six Shed on Front Street, Pembroke.

Planning permission was also granted to Leon Amis of the Amis M. Chapel on Khyber Pass, Warwick to create a double garage over an existing basement.

And in St. George's, approval was also granted to the Bermuda Land Development Company to renovate Lilyfield Place (Building 346), on Corregidor Avenue.

The building's use will change from institutional to office and construction work will create a new entrance, elevator, and parking area.
