Andrew reaches a new level in cable installation
A Bermudian has reached new heights after recently obtaining a new world standard in cable installation.
Andrew Mitchell recently gained a new level of certification from Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI).
Mr. Mitchell completed both theory and practical requirements at the BICSI Telecommunications cabling Installation Program in Tampa, Florida.
At the end of the intensive five-day lab, Mr. Mitchell became a Registered Installer, Level Two.
CCS Group chief executive officer Rob Loxton said: "BICSI is the world standard for cable installation and we are delighted that Andrew has not only shown he is willing to learn more about his trade but has also met the requirements of this demanding course."
"Andrew is an important part of our cabling team and his new abilities have increased his value. We expect even more from him in the future," he said.
Mr. Mitchell, a three-year veteran of the office cabling industry, said the course proved invaluable.
"This was a five day course taught by two BICSI Master Instructors so it was extremely intense. On the sixth day we then had to pass practical and theory tests to that not only did we know how to do the work, but also why you were doing it this way."
He said the best parts about the intensive training programme were that students not only had to know how to install cable but had to understand the theory behind the installation.
"I am glad that CCS sent me on this course and thank them for the opportunity. I am already looking forward to doing the work to move up to the next level. One of the best things about working for CCS is their desire to train all their people. They put specific money aside to pay for these courses and make them available to staff," he said.
