The move comes after the Bermuda Hospital's Board were forced to pull a successful Bermudian applicant from the post because of staff members' complaints.

BHB spokeswoman Kendaree Burgess-Fairn said yesterday the hospital's assistant director of nursing would fill the post of Memorial Ward unit coordinator until another person was found.

The Royal Gazette reported on Tuesday that staff nurse Judith Richardson had been selected from applicants to fill the post.

Ms Richardson -- who has been married to a Bermudian for the past ten years -- who had held the post in an acting capacity while a replacement was sought previously was selected over other applicants.

But staff members said they would strike and filed a complaint with the Bermuda Public Services Association.

An arbitrator then ordered that Ms Richardson be removed from the post which would be re-advertised internally.

Ms Richardson -- a member of the BPSA -- was forbidden to reapply for the post.
