Blackburn wins third gold
Lisa Blackburn picked up her third gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica, willing the women’s 18 and over 200 metres butterfly in a time of 2:31.05.It was the fourth medal at the championships for the oldest member of Bermuda’s team, with Blackburn, 41, also winning a silver medal.In other finals on Wednesday night, Rebecca Heyliger placed fifth in the women’s 18 and over 50 metres freestyle in 28.06 while 11-year-old Ashley Irby finished eighth in the 11-12 girls 50 metres backstroke with a time of 35.86.Shannon Hassell was eighth in the 50 metres backstroke final while Jesse Washington placed fifth in the boys 13-14 50 metres backstroke final in a time of 29.91.Rebecca Sharpe placed sixth in the 18 and over 50 metres backstroke final in 32.77.
