Well-known Hamilton street person Keith Edward Peniston was given a suspended sentence yesterday after he admitted a panhandling offence in Magistrates? Court.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner heard Peniston, 47, asked a Berkeley Institute classmate for a cup of coffee, but got a dollar instead. Mr. Warner reprimanded Peniston and told him that he was smarter than he let on and to get his life together.

?You are a nuisance to this court and you?ve got to stop this foolishness,? Mr. Warner said, before suspending for three months a 14 day prison sentence.

A manager and Good Samaritan were beaten early yesterday morning when a 19-year-old was denied entry to a Court Street club.

A Pembroke man attacked the manager before leaving, but returned later with two other men.

When the trio arrived at the club they attacked a female door attendant. A Good Samaritan came to her aid but was beaten with a chair which was broken during the melee. Both the manager and Good Samaritan were treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and released.

A stolen car was spotted by Police on Sunday night which resulting in a chase around Hamilton Parish.

Police saw the stolen car on North Shore Road, Hamilton, near Francis Patton School with three passengers in it. The chase took the Police through various roads in Hamilton Parish and around the school.

The stolen car came to a standstill and almost crashed into a stone pillar on Mount Wyndham Road. The driver and two passengers escaped. However, one of the men was later arrested.
