Wolves let it slip
Inexperience led to the downfall of Wolves at Devonshire Rec. yesterday as they blew a 2-0 lead and wound up sharing the points with Port Royal in this Daihatsu Second Division match.
Port Royal stormed back in the second half and were able to take the initiative once their younger opponents seemed to tire and lose their touch.
Wolves, who boast one of the youngest line-ups in the league, took a deserved 2-0 lead after 29 minutes on goals by Tory Davis and Philando Hill.
But Port Royal managed to hold their defence tight until the half.
Striker David Gibbs missed two easy chances when play restarted, but after 55 minutes he found the mark from close range after a mix-up in defence.
Gerald Sims in the Port Royal goal pulled off a good save to deny Keith Watson from scoring and Hill added more agony when he struck a hard shot against the post for Wolves.
As Wolves started to show signs of frustration, Port Royal took over and launched several raids with the deserved equaliser coming five minutes from time when Ramsay Saggar netted from just inside the penalty box.
Southampton 2, Social Club 0 Southampton improved their early season record to three wins without defeat, while handing Social Club their first loss with this 2-0 triumph at windswept Southampton Oval yesterday.
After a scoreless first half it was left to Alfred Wolffe and Pernell Brangman to lay the visitors to rest with goals in the 50th and 68th minutes respectively.
Social Club now have one point from two matches after an earlier draw in league play.
Prospect 1, St. David's 1 All the action was confined to the second half as St. David's had to settle for their third straight draw of the season at Police Field.
Andrew Rollins gave Prospect the lead midway through the second half with St.
David's missing the chance to equalise five minutes later when Shea Pitcher hit a post from the penalty spot.
But St. David's hung on to protect their unbeaten start to the season when, just a few minutes later, Jamal Warren scored the goal that earned them a point.
