Rams bring out stars to face visiting Ambassadors

Commercial outfit North Village Rams have assembled a star-studded line up for tonight's match up against the visiting Jamaican Ambassadors of America at BAA Field (8 p.m.).

Rams' hierarchy have let their intentions be known that they do not intend to take tonight's encounter with the watered-down Reggae Boyz lightly by calling upon some of the finest players ever to suit up for the Pembroke-based club for the ocassion.

Leading Rams' charge is veteran centre- half David Scraders, who has been appointed captain for what will be the first of three matches during the Jamaican's fifth straight tour of the island, with legends Ralph Bean, Wendell (Woolly) Baxter and Wendell (Joe) Trott also included in the line-up.

"We are looking forward to the match and it's always great to have the guys playing together again," commented Rams' winger Garett (Punchy) Dill. "It's going to be a challenging but also entertaining match and lots of fun - if our legs can stand up."

Ambassadors captain and president, Leonard (Chicken) Mason, said the visitors are also geared up for the tonight's showdown.

"We are coming prepared and I'm sure everything will be okay," he added. "We are coming to play hard but also to enjoy ourselves and give something back to the sport, which is what this tour is all about."

The visiting Jamaican Ambassadors will travel to the Den tomorrow night to take on an equally formidable Cyril (Dago) Steede XI before rounding off their 2007 tour of the island against Somerset Extros at Somerset Cricket Club on Saturday where local personalities will be honoured for their contributions to public service over the years.
