New resort will be able to serve a drink by the drink...
The new 9 Beaches resort at Daniel's Head, Sandys has been given permission to build an entrance and beach bar by the water.
Island Resort Collection Sandys (IRC Sandys) was given approval by the Development Applications Board to build the welcome pavilion and floating dock and was also allowed to partly demolish an existing water sports building in order to construct a thatched roof bar, wooden deck area, thatched concession pavilion and new sail board storage shed.
General Manager T.M. Hughes said the resort's guests will come from the airport to Eli's Harbour, where a boat will pick them up and bring them past Daniel's Head to a floating dock.
A welcome pavilion will be on the end of the floating dock while a thatched bar ? 'Dark & Stormy's' will be on land near the dock.
"They are all tied in together by the water entrance of 9 Beaches," Mr. Hughes said.
A shed will hold sail boards, kite-boards, Hobi-cats and kayaks.
However, before construction begins a building permit must be granted.
The hotel company is owned by Shadow Tourism Minister David Dodwell and businessman Russ Urban.
