Businesses urged to join AIDS fight
The Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GBC), an international humanitarian relief organisation is calling on the global financial sector in Bermuda to support the fight against AIDS.
The organisation, partnering with World Vision, are launching their new impact! HIV/AIDS campaign this week and aims to drive corporations from all sectors to take action against HIV/AIDS.
This GBC and World Vision co-hosted event takes place tomorrow at XL Capital. The impact! HIV/AIDS campaign aims to increase companies? action against the disease that kills more than 1,300 children a day.
In Africa, there are now more than 10 million children orphaned by parents who died of AIDS ? that?s 153 island with the same population of Bermuda populated only by orphans. The campaign will take the form of economic development, care and support of orphans and vulnerable children, healthcare and emergency relief and development.
The programme allows companies to affect change on the ground immediately by providing plug-and-play sustainable development programmes in badly affected regions of the world, and be helping companies generate a customised communication campaign designed to engage employees, shareholders and customers in the issues.
The Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS is the pre-eminent organisation leading the business fight against the disease. The rapidly-expanding alliance of almost 200 international companies is dedicated to combating the epidemic through the business sector?s unique skills and expertise.
