Don't change route

May 2, 2011Dear Sir,The Bermuda Day Parade should stay the same and end at Bernard's Park. It is unnecessary for it to end at City Hall instead of the Park. A social gathering of this size and importance should be monitored by police, before/if any danger occurs.City Hall does not have any grass, and is not a comforting environment. Bernard Park is much larger, and in a natural setting. When something in Bermuda works, why change it? We have enough social and economic problems that need fixing, instead of changing a concept that works well. In order to go forward as a strong nation under God, we need to establish and maintain good traditions instead of changing all the time.Concerning the police, they should be present and armed from early in the day, where people are and will gather. It always seems like the police come too late, as if they are socially unaware. In many nations around the world, during social gatherings police are armed, visible, and cordial with the general public. Not absent. We, as children of Bermuda, want to enjoy our Bermuda Day and environment in a safe way. Thank you for your time, patience, and intelligence.M3 CLASS TEACHERWhitney Institute Middle School
