Up for the job

Commissioner Jean-Jacque Lemay yesterday announced the promotions from the position of constable to that of sergeant, which took effect last year in December amid a celebration at the Police Recreation Club in Prospect.

Sgt. James Walters, who came to the Island from England in 1988, has worked in various departments such as Central Uniform, Operations (Traffic), Major Incident Room and his current position in Headquarters (Administration).

He has successfully completed the Police Service Supervisory Management Course.

He has an avid interest in sports of all kinds and is a member of the Police Gold and Rugby sections as well as represents the Service of the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Committee.

He is married to Zoe and has two daughters, Harriet and Portia.

Bermudian Sgt. Nicholas Pedro joined the force in 1993.

He served in Western Uniform, Operations (Traffic), Headquarters, Narcotics and Central CID.

He is currently at Eastern CID.

He has also completed the Police Service Supervisory Management Course and keeps himself physically fit with weight-lifting and running.

He lives in Paget with his wife Nisha.
