Hotel project pleases Brown

Tourism Minister Dr. Ewart Brown has expressed his contentment at the news that the development of the Par-La-Ville car park in Hamilton into a luxury hotel is finally going ahead. reported yesterday that a consortium of Bermudian and international businesses, the newly-formed Par-La-Ville Hotel Company, had been selected by the Corporation of Hamilton to develop the site ? after a long period of hesitation and unease which had frustrated Dr. Brown. Last year the Corporation invited fresh bids for the project after backing out of a $110 million deal with leading hotel developers the Carlson Group without any public explanation.

At the time Dr. Brown said he was extremely disappointed at the setback and urged the Corporation to ?get a move on? in finding a developer they approved of.

?We at the Ministry are pleased to learn of this latest development.?
