Limey opts to take a break

The Limey in Bermuda will be back ? that was the message from online diarist Phillip Wells yesterday evening, after his announcement earlier in the day that he was quitting his blog.

In an entry on the political and social forum entitled ?Burnout?, Mr. Wells said: ?I?m tired of this blog taking up so much of my life. I?m tired of feeling so stressed. So I?m going to cut back on my blogging for an indefinite period.?

He blamed what he called a ?pretty stressful? few weeks during which the site ? www.limeyinbermuda.com ? has had a significant increase in activity as a result of various controversies surrounding Premier Alex Scott.

And he described events over the preceding 24 hours ? during which there was a heated debate on the site over whether an anonymous commenter might be a PLP Senator ? as ?the final straw?.

?If I feel the urge to post I will do so; if I don?t, I won?t,? said Mr. Wells, 33. ?It?s unfortunate that it?s come to this. But there?s more to life than blogging, and right now I need a break from it.?

He has also decided to quit writing his weekly column in . He explained to a Gazette reporter yesterday evening that this decision had pained him, but that this, together with the blog, was taking up all of his spare time outside of his full-time job as a software developer.

However, fans of his work will be pleased to hear that the voice of the Limey in Bermuda will not be disappearing permanently.

?I just want to step back for a bit ? it might be for a few days or it might be for a few weeks,? he said. ?? just want to take off some of the pressure for a little, but the site will be back. I have no intention of stopping it completely.?
