Barnes continues fine form

Scott Barnes continued his dominant form during weekend karting racing at Southside Raceway.The top driver produced five podium display that included four wins competing in two divisions.Barnes posted two wins and a second in the TAG Senior Class which he currently leads by 74 points over nearest rival David Barbosa.He also had two wins in the 125cc Shifter Class where he leads Stephen Corrado by a slim four point margin.Corrado also had a solid day of racing as he posted a win and two seconds in the TAG Senior Class to keep the pressure on second placed driver Barbosa in the championship points standings. Bermuda Karting Club president Jason (Skuzzie) North managed two thirds in the TAG Senior Class respectively.Corrado also stepped up the hunt for 125cc Shifter Class supremacy after posting three podium displays on the day that included two seconds and a third to remain hot on the heels of points leader Barnes.Third placed driver Shannon Caisey consolidated his current third placed position in the 125cc Shifter Class championship points standings after claiming victory in the day’s opening heat.Elsewhere, runaway Junior Stock Clone Class (7-10 years) points leader Ryan Burgess posted two wins while Junior Stock Clone Class (10-15 years) pace setter Blake Horseman managed a win and two seconds to extend his lead in his respective division. Second placed Junior Stock Clone Class (10-15 years) driver Owen DeCosta managed a full set (first, second and third) on the day.Points leader Ryan Lopes was the sole driver in the Junior Modified Clone Class (10-15 years).Sunday’s event was a trophy day sponsored by Cabral’s General Contracting Ltd.The 2013 karting season finale will take place May 19 at Southside Raceway.
