Island bids farewell to youth services officer

Senior Youth Service Development Officer Jason Handford-Smith was honoured this week with a farewell luncheon.The Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation employee is relocating to Halifax, Nova Scotia with his Canadian wife.The luncheon was attended by Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Wright, who thanked Mr Hanford-Smith for assisting the police.A police spokesman said Mr Hanford-Smith’s involvement in the conception and implementation of the Youth Police Initiative and the Youth Development Zone had been a “critical factor in the success of those programmes”.
