Students get set for brain battle
first school quiz champions of the Millennium.
Warwick Academy, Saltus Grammar School, Clearwater Middle School , Sandy's Middle School, Cedar Bridge Academy and defending champions Mount St. Agnes will face off during the live broadcast of the competition, from the Hamilton Princess Hotel.
Dellwood Middle School and Berkeley Institute were nudged out last Tuesday and Thursday during the semi-finals, by a margin of only ten points.
Director of Youth, Sport, Parks & Recreation Antony Roberts said: "It was exciting. A nip and tuck fight both nights.
"The competition was beyond your wildest dreams,'' he said It is expected to be a close competition as the scores in the semi-final rounds were very close.
New to this year's competition will be awards given out for perfect scores -- when students answer every question in a given category.
There have already been five perfect scores in this year's tournament. Julia Gibbon from Mount St. Agnes, John Mckenna from Warwick Academy, Elisa Johnston and Gaynette Edwards both from Clear Water Middle School and Cameron MacDonald from Saltus Grammar School.
Tonight's final is expected to be a nail bitter. The competition will be televised live beginning at 7 p.m.
