Senate to turn spotlight on Throne Speech

Senators will today discuss the Throne Speech when the Upper House meets.President Alfred Oughton said he expected the session to last into the afternoon, and said no other item would be discussed.All Senators are likely to speak on the Throne Speech, which Governor Sir John Vereker opened Parliament with ten days ago.

All Senators are likely to speak on the Throne Speech, which Governor Sir John Vereker opened Parliament with ten days ago.

However, a report entitled Review of the Bermudian Agricultural Sector will be announced, along with the financial statements of the Contributory Pension Fund as at July 31, 2000 and 2001.

Financial statements of the Government Employees Health Insurance Fund for the years ending 1997, 1998 and 1999 will also be tabled, along with financial statements of the Ministers and Members of the Legislature Pensions Fund as at March 31, 2002.

A report entitled the Results of the Consumer Satisfaction and Knowledge Survey 2003 will also be tabled, but will not be discussed.
