Prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Jerry Fubler of Roberts Avenue woke early on the morning of May 14 to find the lower half of his bedroom window missing. Mr. Fubler found $1,600 had been taken from under his bed mattress.

Acting Magistrate Kim White told Burrows, whose burglary convictions extend back to 1980, that he did not have the power to sentence him and remanded him in custody.
