The suspect was brought in for questioning on Sunday and officially arrested on suspicion of the rape on Monday afternoon.

He was questioned at the Major Incident Room in Prospect and held overnight at Hamilton Police station until yesterday morning.

Police had 72 hours to charge him or release him on bail, which would have run out today.

The victim was raped in her Paget home on Saturday morning after her attacker climbed in through the bedroom window.

The inquiry, led by Detective Chief Inspector Carlton Adams, is on-going.
