The FCA designation is the profession's most prestigious honour. The first and only other FCA designations awarded in Bermuda were made in 1989 to Mr.

Richard D. Buterfield OBE, Mr. Charles W. Kempe, Mr. D. Michael Kirkwood, Mr.

David E. Lines OBE, Mr. Donald P. Lines OBE, Mr. Harry Soares MP and posthumously to Mr. J. Russell Steinhoff.

Mr. Jens Juul, President and CEO of Scandinavian Re. has announced the following promotions.

Mr. W. Dave Brining , the company's Chief Financial Officer, has gone from Vice President to Senior Vice President.

Mr. Mike Curry and Ms Terry Pitcher have both been promoted from Assistant Vice President to Vice President.

Scandinavian Re, a specialist reinsurer, was founded in 1988 with a paid-up capital of $25 million.

At year-end 1992, capital and surplus reached $111 million and assets exceeded $430 million.

The firm is a subsidiary of the Swedish-Swiss electrical engineering conglomerate ABB.

Mr. Eugene Richardson has retired from Gorham's after just over 33 years of service in its aluminium department.

Mr. Richardson joined the firm when it was known as the Gorham Lumber Company.

He was given a book of photographs showing old Bermuda, on behalf of his colleagues, from Mr. Maurice Johnson, manager of Gorham's aluminium and electrical departments. He was also presented with a silver tray from the company.
