Second Division round-up

Randy lets Islanders off the hook St. David's 0, Social Club 0 Social Club forward Randy Spence's missed sitter midway through the first half was the closest either side came to scoring in a scrappy affair at St.

David's.

Spence latched onto a rebound and, with only the goalkeeper to beat, screwed his shot from eight yards wide.

St. David's had the better of the territorial possession but never looked dangerous until Lionel Cann came on to start the second half. However, the fiery striker's first contribution to an ordinary match was a booking for tackling from behind.

Home team substitute Worrell Bean caused some anxious moments for the Bluebirds near the end as he hit a 22-yard effort just over from the left and then shot wide after a neat one-two with Cann.

The matched was marred by the sendings-off of Social Club's Andre Woods in the 59th minute for serious foul play and St. David's John Pitcher in the 88th minute for intentional hand ball, his second bookable offence.

Wolves 3, Paget 0 Wolves sent Paget sprawling to their second consecutive defeat and in doing so recorded their first victory of the season with this impressive showing at Devonshire Rec.

Keith Watson scored twice in the first half to rock the visitors before Anthony Thomas completed the scoring with a goal early in the second half.

However, the scoreline could have been much higher if not for numerous miscues by the home side late in the second half, with Watson the chief culprit, missing on several occasions when well placed.

Port Royal 6, Hamilton Parish 0 David Gibbs grabbed four goals as Port Royal punished poor Hamilton Parish at Frog Lane yesterday.

After Dennis Pimental had opened the scoring, Gibbs struck twice before the interval to give Port Royal a 3-0 lead at half-time and added two more after the break as the Peppers were pulled apart.

Inbetween, he might have had a fifth but it was credited to Parish defender Perry Simmons who deflected Gibbs' shot from outside the area.

Somerset Eagles 0, S. Rangers 2 Southampton Rangers maintained their perfect record after two games thanks to second half goals at White Hill Field.

Albert Wolffe gave them the lead about 15 minutes after the restart and Herbie Dillas sealed the victory with the second late in the game.
