Gilbert pupils throw a lifeline

These included bake and popcorn sales, car washes, and cleaning dishes.

Teachers also took part in the school venture, which managed to raise $750.

And at a special ceremony during a recent morning assembly a cheque was handed to Mr. Les Kline, southeast director of World Vision.

School principal Mrs. Carole Figueiredo was full of praise afterward for the children's achievement.

"I think they all did wonderfully well. It was a great effort,'' she exclaimed.'' Mrs. Figueiredo added she had helped out, paying a pupil for washing her car.

CONGRATULATIONS -- Ten-year-old Nafeesah Nosakhere presents a $750 cheque on behalf of Gilbert Institute youngsters to Mr. Les Kline, from World Vision.
