Ninth International Reinsurance Congress conference slated later this year.

The October 11-14 conference, sponsored by accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand in association with Hawksmere plc, will cover changes in the world's insurance and reinsurance markets from Lloyds to the US market.

Dr. Saul is scheduled to speak on October 12.

Other Bermuda participants include; Conyers, Dill & Pearman partner Mrs. Robin Mayer, Coopers & Lybrand partner Mr. Ray Madeiros, Devonshire Group president Mr. Gary Nelson, International Risk Management president Mr. Robert Virtue and Milligan-Whyte & Smith head of commercial litigation Mr. Jan Woloniecki.

The global marketplace has seen contraction and consolidation. New capital has raised the expectation that the industry may be emerging from the changes, according to Hawksmere.

"Experienced professionals, leading international insurance experts, regulators and advisors will discuss the changes taking place in the reinsurance market,'' said Hawksmere.

Against this backdrop, organisers have titled the conference "Change -- Evolution or revolution?'' The conference, to be held at the Hamilton Princess, will give practical information to insurance and reinsurance professionals, brokers and underwriters, regulators, lawyers and accountants, Hawksmere added.

The conference gets underway with registration and reception hosted by Coopers & Lybrand and Hawksmere at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11.

The conference closes Saturday, October 14 with a look at future developments as well as a presentation on alternative dispute resolution.

As well as Lloyd's and the US market, the conference will address other topics like; Solvency; Emerging markets; Asia, Pacific, China and Europe; Emerging products like alternative risk transfer (ART) after the Kobe earthquake; Emerging issues like the electronic market; The 21st company as well as brokers and lawyers in the next century.

A golf tournament, slated for Friday, October 13, is among the conference's social events.
