Police came under a hail of missiles after seizing 11 Molotov cocktails and a container of flammable liquid during a raid on a house party.

Officers went to the party on St. Monica's Road, Pembroke, on Saturday morning to deal with a noise complaint.

They found the Molotov cocktails in a nearby yard. As they were leaving several “projectiles” were thrown at the Police vehicle by partygoers and one officer was bruised.

A Police spokesman said no arrests were made.

Firearm recovered

Police recovered a firearm at the junction of Middle Road and Lighthouse Road in Southampton early on Saturday morning.

Officers were directing traffic after an early morning road accident when a member of public gave them the air pistol. It is claimed the weapon fell off a passing motorcycle.

The man carrying the firearm was a dark brown skinned male of slim build in his early 20s.

He was wearing a white shirt, light coloured shorts and a black helmet. He was riding a black Yamaha V50 or V80 cycle.

Accident spree

Police reported 31 road accidents over the weekend - nine of which resulted in injuries. Three people were arrested for drinking and driving.

Six men, aged 18 to 34, were also arrested for offences ranging for offensive language to assaulting a Policeman.

The arrests occurred between 8 p.m. on Friday and 4 a.m. on Saturday.

Fuel prices rise

Motorists are to be forced to dig deeper into their pockets.

Gasoline increased by 1.9 cents a litre, diesel by 2.1 cents a litre and kerosene by 3.1 cents a litre.

A gallon of gasoline now costs $5.45, a gallon of diesel $4.39 and a gallon of kerosene $3.53.

The maximum retail prices displayed on the pumps are: Gasoline 144.10 cents a litre, Diesel 116.10 cents a litre and Kerosene 93.50 cents a litre.

The new prices were announced by the Ministry of Finance.
