Man accused of $115,000 coke smuggling charge

A Canadian was yesterday charged with importing $115,000 worth of cocaine in St. George's on February 11.

Jamie Arden Doncaster, 27, of Toronto, was not required to enter a plea when charged in Magistrates' Court with importing 368 grams of cocaine into Bermuda. The charges are indictable and must be tried in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Edward King charged Doncaster with importing the cocaine and with possessing the cocaine with intent to supply.

The Canadian was represented by Anthony Richardson, who was holding for Elizabeth Christopher.

Crown counsel Shakira Dill objected to bail and Doncaster was remanded in custody to reappear for mention on March 1.
