because he "wasn't in a right state of mind''.

Danere Spence, of Bulkhead Drive, Warwick, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court earlier this week to dangerous driving, riding on the Railway Trail and driving without due care and attention.

Crown Counsel Veronica Gordon said Spence was travelling at high speed on his cycle on Middle Road, Southampton at about 10.45 a.m. on September 16.

Spence overtook a Police and fire vehicle -- driving in such a way that motorists in the other lane were forced to swerve to avoid collision.

He was stopped near Rising Sun but told officers: "I don't care what you do, I don't abide by your laws -- I only obey Jah's laws.'' Later that same day at about 11.23 a.m., Spence was ticketed for riding his motorcycle on a Railway Trail.

And the following day, September 17, Police spotted him at 4.18 a.m. running red lights at the corners of Parliament and Reid, Court Street and Victoria, and Dundonald and Court.

When handed a ticket charging him with driving without due care and attention, Spence ripped up the ticket.

But yesterday in court, Spence said: "At that point in time, I was not in a right frame of mind.

"I've been to St. Brendan's since then and I'm an outpatient now...I feel much better, sir.'' Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined him $30 for riding on the Railway Trail, $400 and a 12-month disqualification from all vehicles for dangerous driving and $300 for driving without due care and attention.

"I've given you time off the road to catch yourself -- just use a pedal bike, that will be good therapy,'' said Mr. Francis.
