Anna Conklin, 45, of Union City, New Jersey, admitted the offence in Magistrates' Court.

Prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Conklin was in the Phoenix on July 10 when she put the hairbrush in her helmet.

She later left the store without paying for the $11.75 item, although she paid a greetings card.

Duty counsel Duncan Hall said the brush had been lost among all the shopping bags that Conklin was carrying and that she had not taken it intentionally.
