The incident occurred at around midnight on Saturday as the woman rode along Harbour Road at its junction with Manse Road, Paget. Her boyfriend was riding slightly ahead of her.
It is believed the robber was standing near the John. F. Burrows liquor store.
After the attack, he ran off east along Harbour Road, while the woman's boyfriend went to her side.
The robber was six feet, and wearing dark clothing.
Another American visitor was also targeted by a thief in an earlier incident at around 11.15 p.m. on Saturday.
The woman's shoulder bag was grabbed by a man on a motorcycle as she strolled along Pitts Bay Road, near the Hamilton Princess, with a friend.
The beige leather bag contained travellers cheques, credit cards, and other personal papers.
The man was heavily built, and wearing a burgundy jacket, dark trousers, and a white crash helmet.
