Police officer and was also ordered to pay an outstanding $200 fine by Friday.

Magistrates' Court heard that officers were making an arrest when Rudy Lamar Smith, 28, of Mullet Bay, approached them and asked what was going on.

When told that he was not involved and that he should move on he allegedly hit an officer with a crash helmet.

Smith said someone else hit the officer and he was mistakenly charged but still pleaded guilty.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner told Smith he was lucky he did not go to prison for the offence and fined him $600.

Mr. Warner then asked Smith why he had not paid an outstanding $200 fine and he said he did not have a job.

"Everybody that ain't got no job don't have to pay their fines?'' Mr. Warner asked.

"Yes,'' Smith replied.

Mr. Warner ordered that the $200 be paid forthwith or the default time be served.

But Smith's mother asked the court to give her son until Friday to pay the fines because he had just started a job and would have the money then.

"You can't run his life for him,'' Mr. Warner said. "You see his attitude, he ain't got no job so he won't pay no fine.'' A family friend chimed in and pleaded with Mr. Warner to allow Smith to have until Friday to pay the fine.

She said they would find a way to get the money if he could not pay it himself.

"I'm for young kids too,'' Mr. Warner said, "but they have to have some respect. Everybody that comes in here is starting work the next day.'' However Mr. Warner relented and gave Smith until Friday to pay the fine.

MAN FINED FOR SWEARING CTS Man fined for swearing A Pembroke man was fined $200 in Magistrates' Court after he admitted swearing.

Cayon Kwane Joell, 21, of Middle Town Drive, was charged with use of offensive words after Police were called to the scene of a fight earlier last month.

When officers arrived at Middle Town Drive they found Joell standing in the middle of the street cursing.

They told him to watch his language but he replied: "I don't f***ing care.

Lock me up. I don't f***ing care.'' Joell told the court: "I was drunk at the time and that's the reason for all this happening.'' Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered Joell to pay $200 by the end of the month.

TOOLS STOLEN IN DOCKYARD CRM Tools stolen in Dockyard A quantity of tools were allegedly stolen from the Sally Port Dump in Dockyard Terrace last weekend, the Police reported this week.

Several items were allegedly tampered with and a flashlight, penknife and screwdriver were taken from a vehicle and a Sony Walkman was taken from a shed.

Elsewhere, Police reported that a Warwick woman was allegedly smashed in the face with a bottle during an altercation in Club 40 on Front Street at 2 a.m.

on Saturday.

The 22 year old complainant alleged another club-goer threw a bottle at her and it hit her on the forehead causing bruising and a laceration.

The woman left the club and reported the incident the following Monday.
