Law firm gets high ratings

Conyers Dill & Pearman has once again been ranked as a tier one law firm in Bermuda, according to a statement from the law firm.

Well known survey the IFLR 1000 has also listed the firm as a Tier 1 firm in the British Virgin Islands.

The list also names Bermuda lawyers John Collis, David Cooke and Anthony Whaley along with BVI lawyers Robert Briant and Mark Fort? as leading practitioners.

CD&P also said the recent Chambers Global 2007 rankings from Chambers and Partners gave the firm top rankings in the areas of corporate/commercial and dispute resolution, with ten lawyers named as stars in the field of offshore law: Graham Collis, John Collis, David Doyle, Mr. Cooke, Robin Mayor, Alan Dickson, Charles Collis, Tim Shephard, Narinder Hargun and Jeffrey Elkinson.

The Chambers ranking also placed Mr. Briant and Mr. Fort? as top ranked lawyers in the British Virgin Islands, and places the BVI office as a whole in the second rank alongside Maples and Calder and WSmiths.

In addition, the firm?s Caymans office has been named to the IFLR 1000 rankings.

CD&P noted that ?contrary to the general trend of merging with an incumbent practice? as rival firm Applebys recently did, CD&P has aimed to grow organically and independently develop foundations in new markets.

?This is precisely how the office in Cayman Islands is developing,? the statement said. ?The firm has been able to preserve the tradition, culture and reputation with which it has become associated, as well as benefit from the synergies this strategy provides.

?After only a few years of staffed presence, awareness of the Firm?s Cayman capabilities is beginning to filter into the market place and it is slowly garnering the respect and recognition it deserves.

?This will only increase as the Cayman Islands office has plans for major expansion over the coming year.?
