Police said the mishap occurred just before noon at the western end of Longbird Bridge in St. George's.

A 63-year-old St. George's taxi driver was travelling west on the bridge when his taxi skidded and collided with a railing.

The taxi received extensive damage to the front nearside. Traffic was also held up as a result of the accident.
