Bermudian lawyer made a partner in London legal firm

firm of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold , a 270-attorney international litigation and trial firm with offices in the US and Zurich. Mr. Chudleigh's practice focuses on insurance/reinsurance issues concerning the financial services sector and has included dealing with claims and coverage issues arising in connection with professional indemnity and directors' and officers' liability policies. He is qualified to practise law in England & Wales, Bermuda and Califonria and he frequently advises clients on insurance/reinsurance matters involving multi-jurisdictional issues.

He was called to the Bar in England and Wales in 1990 and has been admitted to the law society of England & Wales and the Bars of Bermuda and Calfornia.

"A particularly satisfying aspect of my new position has been my increasing involvement with the Bermudian reinsurance market,'' Mr. Chudleigh said. "I travelled to Bermuda on business on numerous occasions last year, including trips for reinsurance arbitrations and I anticipate spending even more time (there).'' *** CD&P TO EXPAND LONDON OFFICE BUC CD&P to expand London office Local law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman is expanding its London office at Threadneedle Street, and adding a third lawyer. The moves is in response to increasing demand for offshore services in the UK and Europe. David Stockman , a corporate lawyer from the Bermuda office with more than 20 years' experience in corporate and commercial law joined Martin Lane and Tonya Marshall this week.

"Our success is directly related to the fact our European-based clients can receive advice on several offshore jurisdictions in their own time zone,'' London office managing director Martin Lane said. "This makes our service unique and has brought about the need for another lawyer. '' Lawyers in the London office are linked by computer to the firm's offices in Bermuda, Hong Kong, Guernsey, Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands.

In all, the firm has more than 300 staff.

*** NAME CHANGE FOR LAW FIRM BUC Name change for law firm Also in the news is another local law firm, Mello Hollis Jones & Martin , which with effect Tuesday changed its name to Mello Jones & Martin , due to the departure of one of the partners to start his own firm.

The renamed firm will operate from the same offices at Reid House on Church Street.

The continuing partners in the firm are Michael Mello QC, Elizabeth Jones , Andrew Martin , Saul Froomkin QC, Peter Martin and Alan Dunch . The associates with the firm include Philip Chesterman , Kieron Unwin , Sharon Beesley , Steven Morris , Karen Williams-Smith , Jane Engestrom , Juliana Jack , Hil de Frias , Denis de Frias and Charmaine Tucker .

The associated corporate adminstration and services companies Quorum Bermuda, Quorum International and Quorum Sponsors will continue to operate from the same premises under the management of Bruce Murray.

*** SECURITY GROUP HIRES GILBERT BUC Security Group hires Gilbert Ever-expanding Bermuda Security Group has announced that Millard Gilbert has joined the company as service technician for its closed-circuit TV systems (CCTV) and other related products.

Mr. Gilbert is well-known in the business community with many years experience in radio and TV, the latest with a local radio broadcasting company.

The Group's latest project is the Hamilton City CCTV project.
