Miss Julie McLean of Devonshire is an associate in the corporate department and has been busy with securities work, having joined the firm nine months ago.

The 27-year old, who in August was called to the bar in British Columbia and articled in Vancouver with the firm of Fraser and Beatty, is a product of CD&P's student scholarship programme. She was called to the bar in Bermuda in November.

She leaves for her Hong Kong adventure on Wednesday, with an expected 12-month tenure there.

Miss McLean said, "I will be involved with IPOs (Initial Public Offerings) and setting up mutual funds. I will be setting up companies in Bermuda for Hong Kong clients and then arrange for companies to be listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange and other exchanges around the world.

"I'm scheduled to be there for a year, but we will have to see how that goes.

It depends on the volume of work. We've had an office out there for about ten years, so we have an extensive base of Chinese business. There are a lot of business opportunities there.''
