Bus fares will go up on April 1 if the House of Assembly agrees to increases announced in the Budget.

For travellers over the age of 16, but under 65, the fares will raise to $3 for a three zone journey and for a ride up to 14 zones it will now cost $4.50.

For the same age group of people, who are purchasing a book of 15 tickets will now cost $20 and a 14-zone book of 15 tickets will now cost $30.

A monthly travel card for up to 14 zones will cost adults $55 and a quarterly pass will be $135.

Adults using tokens will be charged $2.50 for a three zone journey and $4 for a 14 zone token.

Senior citizens and special people will continue to travel free with the production of their transportation identification.

Students and children will travel for a set price of $2 for journeys up to 14 zones.

Monthly passes will rise to $17 and term passes will cost parents $45. Booklets of 15 tickets for any journey up to 14 zones will cost $7.50 each.

Children aged five or under travel free on public transportation.

The multi-day passes will now cost $12 for adults and $6 for children.

A three day pass will cost $28 and for children it will cost $14.

Four day passes will cost adults $35 and children $17.50 and seven day passes will cost adults $45 and children $22.

Ferry travellers will also be hit with increased travel costs from April 1.

For travellers on the Somerset to Hamilton route, if they pay at the turnstile, it will cost $4 per person and tokens for adults under 65 will cost $30 for a pack of 15.

Auxiliary cycles will cost $4 each and tokens for students and children will cost $7.50 for a pack of 15.

Four-day adult travel passes will cost $35. Children on the same four day pass travel for $17.50.

Adult cash payments at the turnstile are $2.50 per person.

Tokens for adults will cost $20 for a pack of 15 and for children travellers $7.50. Seniors citizens, special persons and children under the age of five travel for free.
