Robert Maycock and Laura Robinson both reached the round of 16 of the US Junior Squash Olympics in New Jersey.

Maycock, competing in the Boys Under-13 division, defeated Harrison Hart in the opener before seeing off Nicholas Kourides 9-0, 9-4, 9-2 in the event earlier this week.

In the round of 16 he lost out to Chip Culp, number two seed, 9-2, 9-3, 9-2.

Maycock then went into the Consolation championship where he beat Nicholas Sachvie 9-2, 8-10, 9-2, 3-9, 9-7.

In the quarter-final qualifier he met Sam Beatt, losing out 9-6, 9-1, 9-2.

Laura Robinson, in the Girls Under-13 division, beat Shannon Harrington, 9-2, 9-0, 9-0. In the round of 16 she lost to Emily Park, number one seed and eventual champion, 9-0, 9-2, 9-0.

In the Consolation she got past Kelly Whelan after she withdrew through illness and then saw off Nikoo Fadaifard, number six seed, in the quarter-final qualifier 9-3, 9-2, 9-0.

In the quarter-final Robinson lost in four games, 9-2, 9-5, 3-9, 9-6 to number three seed Samantha Buechner.

Iain Redford, in the Boys Under-15s, received a bye to the round of 64 before crashing 9-1, 9-0, 9-5 to Christopher Ehlinger.

In the Consolation he lost to Michael Beautyman in the round three qualifier.

In the same division Michael Shrubb lost out to number four seed Jesus Pena 9-1, 9-2, 9-2 before having wins in the Consolation against Allan Lutz (9-2, 9-0, 9-0) and William Browne (9-4, 9-0, 9-4). He eventually lost to James Clark 5-9, 9-5, 9-4, 9-4.

Teammate Graham Counsell lost to Trevor McGuinness 9-4, 9-2, 9-5 before going on to beat Marshall Miller 9-0, 9-1, 9-0 in the round three qualifier of the Consolation. He then met Parker Voss going down 7-9, 9-2, 9-2, 9-7.

In the Boys Under-17 Andrew Robinson beat Mark Biggar 9-1, 9-3, 9-4 before losing in the round of 64 to number one seed Mauricio Sanchez 9-0, 9-1, 9-2.

Robinson then beat Jake Leiby 9-2, 9-2, 9-4 in round two of the Consolation before going down 9-5, 9-7, 9-2 to John Ehlinger.

Justin Robinson, in the Boys Under-19 division, lost to Ben Ende 9-1, 9-1, 9-2 and then Nathan Beck, 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 in round three of the consolation.

In the same division Stephen Smith lost to Eduardo Aguilar 9-7, 9-2, 9-1 and then Keith Merrill 9-4, 10-9, 1-9, 5-9, 9-5 in the round three Consolation qualifier.

Jessica Mitchell played in the Girls Under-17 category and lost to Caroline Cuckler 9-5, 9-1, 9-3. In round one of the consolation she received a bye before losing to Christie Alexander 9-2, 9-2, 9-0.
