Sand sculpting competition returns

Get your buckets and spades ready. The 18th annual Bermuda Sand Sculpture Competition will take place on August 31 at Horseshoe Bay Beach.From August 27–31, Bermuda will welcome for the first time world sand sculptors Craig Mutch & Marj Graham from Canada. This duo of professional sand sculptors will work their magic with Bermuda’s pink sand to create stunning works of art that will provide buzz and excitement for our visitors and residents.There will be clinics at Horseshoe Bay Beach on August 29 and 30 from 6pm to 7.30pm where residents and visitors can learn from Craig and Marj about the tips, tricks, tools and techniques of sand sculpting.“The Sand Sculpture competition was started 18 years ago by the Institute of Bermuda Architects and spear headed by Nicky Gurret. This event has grown in participation and popularity and has proven to be a highly anticipated weekend of fun for our visitors and locals,” said Director of Tourism Billy Griffith.The sand sculpture competition takes place on August 31 from 10am–4pm and all are invited to enter. This is a free competition and provides an opportunity to win lots of prizes and no experience is necessary.
