Four dolphins moved
for the close approach of Hurricane Gert.
Half of the attraction's eight dolphins were moved to a water enclosure at the Maritime Museum in Dockyard on Friday and Saturday.
The mammals were transported by truck in two trips that lasted about forty minutes each.
Marine mammal vetrinarian at Dolphin Quest Dr. Rae Stone said that "this is just a precaution''.
"Like everyone else we are watching the progress of Hurricane Gert and, if it becomes necessary we'll move the other ones as well.'' She explained: "All the animals except the ones that were born here made long trips over from the US so, in comparison, the trip up to Dockyard wasn't very stressful for them.'' The dolphins were kept surrounded by water and on beds of foam during their journeys.
Dr. Stone said: "The animals have a trainer with them 24 hours a day and they're all doing extremely well.'' SEA
