Fittings from the Flatts hotel are being sold off as owner Jeff Amaral prepares to demolish buildings to make way for a new resort and condominium project.

The restaurant closed in December and the last of the guests departed in mid-February.

After completion, the site will house a 28 room hotel, spa, restaurant and health club.

In addition, the residential component will feature 20 homes set in gardens at the waterfront resort. Nearly all of the condos, which are priced from $690,000, have been sold already.

Work is due to start on April 1 and will take between 18 months and two years.

CASH, CD PLAYER STOLEN CRM Cash, CD player stolen Cash was stolen from Marshall's Maintenance on Happy Valley Road, Paget between Saturday evening and Monday morning. And a casual thief got away with a stainless steel watch from the Jeweller's Warehouse on Front Street, at 3.45 p.m. yesterday.

The man was seen to take the watch from a display cabinet and put it on his wrist, before running from the building.

A JVC CD player, RCA television and JVC video player were taken from a house on Cedar Park Drive, Devonshire over the weekend.

Thieves took a Panasonic video from a Ferrar's Close, Pembroke residence between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Police are investigating all incidents.

MEN ADMIT STREET FIGHT CTS Men admit street fight Two men were given a second chance by a magistrate on Tuesday after they were caught by police fighting in the street. Elliot Tywon Simmons, age 20 of Studio Lane, Devonshire, and Yusef Eugene Simmons, 24, of Edgeway Lane, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to affray when they appeared at Magistrates Court.

The men, both labourers, admitted to Magistrate Edward King grappling in Par-La-Ville Road, Hamilton, on February 18 this year. Both said it had not been a full blown fight and they had since made up.

And when asked by Mr. King how they wanted to be punished, either by fine or custodial sentence, Elliot Simmons said "fine'' and Yusef Simmons said it was not in his character to fight and a warning would suffice.

Mr. King said: "I take into consideration your guilty pleas and your erstwhile clean records.

"I do not consider a conviction warranted against either of you. I bind each one of you over to be of good behaviour for 12 months.

"If during that period you commit any offence and you come back to these courts, plead guilty or you are found guilty, you may be convicted of that offence.

"After 12 months, the court will not have record of this. You have not been convicted.'' HAB RAISES $330,000 FNR HAB raises $330,000 The Hospitals Auxiliary of Bermuda has raised $330,000 this year through its three business operations.

The money was presented to HAB yesterday evening at its annual meeting in the Queen Elizabeth Nurses' Residence in Berry Hill Road, Paget.

Most of the money will be given to the Bermuda Hospitals Board later to buy equipment, although some will be held back for operational expenses.

Last year HAB raised $300,000, and it has donated more than $5 million to the Board in total. The money has been used to buy ultra sound and laboratory equipment, neonatal machines, ambulances and buses for transporting patients.

The money has come from HAB's three businesses -- the Barn, the Coffee Shop, and the Gift Shop.

HAB has 350 active, 225 inactive and 70 junior volunteers who work in the King Edward VII Memorial hospital, continuing care units, St Brendan's and Agape House.
