Police were called to the scene, Water Street, St. George's, in the early hours of the morning.

A Police spokeswoman said that the victim, who has not been named by Police, is still in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

She said the man had been involved in two earlier incidents to which officers had been called.

The victim claimed he had been stabbed around 10 p.m. on Saturday night following an argument with another man.

The Police spokeswoman added that the victim said he did not want the Police to become involved.

Police are hunting a thug who beat up a man with baseball bat.

The victim -- a 20-year-old Southampton man -- suffered a broken arm, bruising and head injuries.

The man, who has not been named by Police, spent two days in hospital after the attack, which happened in Union Street in the early hours of last Thursday morning.

A police spokeswoman said yesterday the victim had been involved in an argument with his attacker in Court Street earlier that evening.

She added that no arrest had been made, but that inquiries were continuing.
