Nationals won the Shell Youth Tournament final on Saturday at St. John's field when they beat Southampton Rangers by 23 runs.
Batting first after winning the toss, Nationals scored 96 in 25.4 overs with no batsman other than captain Jahmiko Marshall, with 43, reaching double figures. David Tucker was Southampton's most successful bowler, taking four wickets for 12 runs.
Southampton's chances of reaching the winning total were reduced when their stronger batsmen started well but were unable to maintain the required run rate. Rodre Zuill was top scorer for Rangers with 17 runs as they replied with 73 all out in 29.2 overs.
Zuill was well caught in the final over of the innings with 24 still needed for victory. He shared a last-wicket stand of 24, the team's highest, with Andrew Raynor who at seven years of age was both the youngest and smallest player on the field.
Despite this, the youngster batted with great composure to remain not out at the close.
Reo Peniston took two for five for Nationals.
