Rapper Fat Joe flies in for charity concert
PLATINUM-selling American rapper Fat Joe (pictured) will arrive on the island today to perform at a charity concert tomorrow night at Bermuda College.
The event company producing the show told the Mid-Ocean News that the concert ¿ which will also feature Fat Joe's Bronx hip hop crew the Terror Squad ¿ is expected to sell out.
"We're doing this for the Bermuda College students, and part of the proceeds will go to the College," said Quality Entertainment's event coordinator Margal Smith, one of a team of four at the local group responsible for staging tomorrow's performance.
"Students are excited about Fat Joe; he's a well-known artist," said Ms Smith.
The artist, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, has recently completed his eighth solo album, The Elephant in the Room, which debuted at the sixth position on the American Billboard Hot 100.
The half-Puerto Rican, half-Cuban New Yorker is best known for his hit single What's Luv, featuring Ashanti, and as part of the Terror Squad on Lean Back, alongside Remy Martin.
As well as tomorrow's concert, Quality Entertainment has organised an autograph signing and a meet-and-greet with Fat Joe and the Terror Squad for Bermuda College students.
Fat Joe and the Terror Squad will perform at Bermuda College Gymnasium tomorrow at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $45 in advance at New Life, Jazzy Boutique and Music World. VIP tickets cost $75.
