Saturday Dockyard to St. George's ferry starts

A new Saturday ferry service from Dockyard to St. George's began at the weekend — offering tourists and residents alike a convenient way to get from one end of the Island to the other.

The service will run on 13 Saturdays when there are cruise ships berthed at Dockyard until November 21, usually operating four 30-minute trips a day.

Premier Ewart Brown, the Transport and Tourism Minister, said: "The implementation of Saturday service to St. George's is in response to input received from residents and businesses in St. George's.

"We want to encourage cruise visitors to experience all that Bermuda has to offer, and operating direct service from Dockyard to St. George's on Saturdays will greatly improve their transport options."

The news was welcomed by businesses in St. George's, which cannot accommodate the mega-ships visiting Dockyard this summer. For the schedule call the Hamilton Ferry Terminal at 295-4506.
