Meet the money man with a golden touch
billions of dollars worth of investments, but also finds time to write a column, is the editor an on-line newsletter -- all while keeping a keen eye on the stock market.
And on Tuesday this favourite of the American TV, Courtney Smith, will be in Bermuda to speak to the Bermuda section of the International Chapter of Financial Planners.
The business advisor will be addressing the Island's financial planners and explaining what makes a successful financial advisor.
"I will be speaking about what it takes to be financial advisor and what the real factors are for success,'' he told The Royal Gazette yesterday.
"It takes a certain king of psychology, intellect and of course skill in money management.'' Mr. Smith is a regular visitor to Bermuda, and jumped at the chance to come and speak to the Island's financial advisors.
"I love Bermuda, it is a wonderful place. Where better to combine work and pleasure?'' Mr. Smith will address delegates at a special lunch hosted at the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce at Albouy's Point on Tuesday.
He says he will give an animated talk about how to succeed in money markets which will interest his listeners. He added: "Lunch presentations can be a bit snoozy, so you have to get a little bit active.'' The event organiser Martha Myron, of First Bermuda Securities Ltd said: "Courtney Smith needs little introduction. Mr. Smith is a world renowned writer and columnist with a weekly column on CBSMarketWatch.com.
"This respected guru of the investment world will be in Bermuda next week.
Even those out there who are seasoned investment managers can pick up a hint or two from a investment specialist who operates on the cutting edge!'' Mr. Smith has a long line of credentials and his expertise is called on not only at investment conferences throughout North America and Europe but is also a popular talking head on television shows such as The Wall Street Journal.
He is the editor of Courtney Smith's Wall Street Winners newsletter, an investment advisory publication with a circulation of over 32,000.
Mr. Smith is the owner and editor-in-chief of Commodity Traders Consumer Reports, the premier tracking service for the futures industry.
He is also the Chief Investment Strategist of Orbitex Management, Inc. Orbitex manages and administers over $5 billion in mutual funds and portfolios for institutions and individuals.
Before this he was president and chief executive officer of Quantum Financial Services, Inc., a $100 million futures and stock brokerage firm.
Mr. Smith is the author of six books, including Profits Through Seasonal Trading, How To Make Money In Stock Index Futures and Option Strategies.
