The 24-year-old was last night in a stable condition in a general hospital ward after the incident in which three men are alleged to have jumped into his truck as he drove along Washington Street on Tuesday.

A Police report said the man was hit about the head, before the attackers ran off. Three men were arrested in the vicinity on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained.

The culprit gained entry into the room at the hotel through the patio door and stole a pocket book, a wallet and a watch.

A representative of the store told Police the building on Dundonald Street was secured overnight on Tuesday, but he returned Wednesday morning to find that the property had been forcibly entered.
