Apex Technology represents American manufacturer Linear's 21st Sentry, whose equipment is used to help protect The White House in Washington DC.

Apex has a full range of security devices to protect homes and businesses, linked to a 24 hours-a-day central station.

It has been set up by Mr. McNeil Warner, who is president, and Mr. Danny Moore, vice-president and technician.

Mr. Moore said the medical alarm, which is worn around a person's neck, could prove to be a life-saver in an emergency.

"This is a very important part of our business,'' he said. "It is ideal for old people, the disabled or anyone with a serious medical complaint.

"It enables them to summon help without having to drag themselves to a telephone, which is often impossible in a real emergency.'' Mr. Moore has more than 20 years of experience installing security systems in Bermuda, having worked for several local companies, including Universal Electric, Bermuda Central Station, Safeguard Security Services and Supreme Security Services.

Mr. Warner, a former school principal and United Bermuda Party chairman, who handles the firm's administration, said Apex offers camera surveillance, as well as a full range of alarms for homes and businesses.

He added: "People are becoming more and more concerned about their investment in their home and want to protect what they have.

"Linear's 21st Sentry equipment is the best in the industry, otherwise it wouldn't be used to protect the President.'' Apex Technology has an office on the corner of Ewing Street and Court Street, in Hamilton.

The business was opened by Bermuda's Chief Justice Sir James Astwood on April 29.
