Marvin Belboda played the super-sub role once again when he came off the bench in the second half to score both Somerset's goals in this Premier Division finale.

Belboda came on at Somerset CC for Dion Stovell after 60 minutes and scored his first goal seven minutes later. With 15 minutes to go he got the clincher.

But it wasn't easy against their last place opponents as the home side had to sweat it out after falling behind to a goal by Dennis Maynard on eight minutes.

While coach Mark Trott had to be relieved to finish what has been a mediocre season on a winning note, he also had to experience his worst moment as a coach.

This occurred on 70 minutes when he attempted to substitute his skipper Dwight Basden for young Damon Swan, only to be left embarrassed as the player rejected the call and then ignored a second attempt a few minutes later.

Even Somerset's president Colin Smith was seen on the sidelines attempting to persuade the player to come off but his plea fell on deaf ears.

Loyal Somerset fans shouted their disapproval at the player and the tempo of their disgust increased when Swan eventually came on for midfielder David Lawler after 76 minutes - the fans obviously upset that the coaching staff didn't persist with their original plans to pull off the captain.

With play scrappy throughout sadly incidents like that became the main features of the day. After Basden's spat came the ejection of Somerset's midfielder Omar Shakir, sent off by referee Cal Simons after 78 minutes for using foul and abusive language towards a linesman.

Earlier, Maynard scored for the east-enders after combining with young Kyle Williams.

Somerset tried to come back after 46 minutes Tokia Russell missed a sitter.

There was then further agony when Neil Paynter was ruled to have fouled Belboda inside the box after 63 minutes but Randy Simmons put his penalty kick beyond the left upright.

However, Belboda ensured a home win when he levelled after a quick counter attack and then got the winner after dribbling by two defenders and placing the ball home from just inside the box.
