The skies above Bermuda will be buzzing when the US Navy's acrobatic team the Blue Angels come in June.

“The Blue Angels are coming,” said the Airborne Foundation's president and founder Kurvin Spence.

The Airborne Foundation, formed in 2002, is campaigning to raise awareness and funding for Bermudians who want to become pilots, a press release said.

The Blue Angels, officially known as the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, along with Harrier planes, fighter jets, US Army Golden Knights (a stunt parachute team) and stealth fighters are currently scheduled for the June 12 to June 13 show that will take place at the Bermuda International Airport.

“We aim to make a fun family day to bring together all Bermudians young and old to see some amazing stunts and learn about what it takes to command these might machines,” the press release said.

The Blue Angels began their seasonal tour on November 13 and will be performing 69 shows in 35 locations.

“Demonstration sites are selected in support of the objectives of the US Department of Defense and in the interest of the armed services with safety as the primary consideration,” said a Department of Defense website posting.
