New courses to learn all about Apple
AF Smith has just launched a new training programme they hope will help users familiarise themselves with the latest Apple products. The iLearn Apple Training Programme will offer a series of courses that will focus on a variety of topics including iOS5 for mobile devices and OSX Lion for Macs, iCloud and using the iPad for business. The first group course will go over the basics of the iOS5 operating system for the iPhone, iPad and iTouch. The session will teach users about added apps and features on the new operating system, new ways to use their devices and new moves and shortcuts to help them get around quicker and multi-task better.Classes will be held in the company’s new Apple learning centre and will be taught by AF Smith Apple specialist Jenny Whiting, an Apple Product Professional and Apple Certified Macintosh Technician.Ms Whiting says they want people to get the most out of their devices.“A lot of people don’t realise there are a lot of new features and different ways to use them,” she said. “We’re hoping to be able to help people get the best out of their devices.”The iLearn courses are open to all Apple users regardless of whether they purchased their product from AF Smith or not.The first course is two hours long and is offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the month of May for $75 per person. The next course the company plans to offer will be in July and will cover the ins and outs of the OSX Lion operating system for Macs.Ms Whiting says there has been a lot of interest in learning the iOS5 and OSX Lion system. Both courses will teach users how to upgrade their devices to the new operating systems.“Some people are not very computer literate, so just learning the devices has been difficult,” she said. “And I think a lot of people have transferred over to Apple devices from the PC environment and there is a difference. There is a learning curve, but once people understand how to use the devices, they can really maximise on the investment they’ve made in their device.“We’ve had a really great response since launching the new Apple store within the store last year, so for us, iLearn was just the next logical step.”Other courses the company plans to hold will focus on using iCloud, iWorks (a document creator) and iPhoto. The company also offers one-on-one training sessions for $75 an hour. You can register for either the iOS5 group course or a private session by going to the company’s website (www.afsmith.bm) and clicking on the Apple Store icon at the top of the page.
